Monica Durkin, 47, of Youngstown, was sentenced to three days in jail, but she can attend a driver’s intervention program in lieu of jail time. She also was given a six-month license suspension retroactive to the date of the accident. She must also pay fines and court costs.

When firefighters and paramedics arrived, her SUV was on its side and she had to be cut out of the vehicle. No one was seriously injured.

Youngstown posters

youngstown

Distinct Industries, a Youngstown design firm, has launched a website — youngstowndesign.com — to commemorate the release of Youngstown Neighborhoods, a typography poster it designed.

“I have seen lots of great Youngstown related art, but I haven’t really seen much commemorating all the major neighborhoods in one piece,” said Ryan Kallock, poster designer. “I put a lot of thought into this concept — incorporating unique signage for each neighborhood on a streetlight seemed like a great idea, and I think it came out wonderful.”

Youngstown Neighborhoods is a limited-edition offering. Posters will be hand-screen printed on 18-by-24-inch French paper and are on sale through Nov. 1. Posters are $20 and will ship in mid- November. A portion of the sale proceeds will be donated to benefit First Book-Mahoning Valley. Visit the website for information.
