Local NCNW group plans membership event

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. will have its 36th Annual Membership Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. Mark’s Church, 3560 Logan Way.

The event will begin with the raffling of gift baskets at 11, and lunch will follow at noon. Atty. Kathleen Thompson, assistant law director of Youngstown, will speak, and Leslie Kitchen of Rising Star Baptist Church will provide music.

Donations are $25. For tickets, call Sandy Britt, first vice president, at 330-502-9800.

Committee members are Angela Pickett, Gloria Armour, Marilyn Wright, Tuana Vinson and Britt.

Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune founded the NCNW in 1935, and the motto is Leave No One Behind: Legacy, Vision and Leadership. This year’s local theme is Back to the Basics, Educating Our Youth and Preparing for the Future.

General membership meetings are at 1 p.m. the second Saturday of the month at the McGuffey Center, 1649 Jacobs Road. Yvonne Wilson is president of the Youngstown Section.
