New Jersey investigators looking for leads

Staff report

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J.

Investigators still are trying to find out how long a Youngstown woman had been in the area before she was found slain in Riverton borough early Sunday.

Joel Bewley, a public-information officer for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s office, said Tuesday police did not have much information and had just started their investigation into the slaying of 22-year-old Te’Aira Denise Earvin, 22, of Youngstown. Earvin was found shot to death about 5:25 a.m. Sunday on a borough street.

Bewley said investigators also are trying to find out why Earvin was in New Jersey.

Court records from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court show that Earvin was indicted by a grand jury Oct. 3 on a felony drug charge. A notation in the court docket said that deputies tried to serve Earvin with her warrant Thursday, but she could not be served because the address they went to was a vacant apartment.

Earvin was indicted on the charges of possession of heroin and possession of drugs. Court records show her address as Washington Boulevard in Boardman.
