Limb, branch pickup

HOWLAND

The Howland Township limb and branch pickup begins Oct. 28 for residents east of Mosquito Creek and ends Nov. 8.

For west-side residents on North Road and streets off North Road, the pickup is Nov. 11 to Nov. 22.

One pass will be made on each street, and branches must be at the curb the night before pickup begins.

The cut end of the branches should face the street. Only trimmed, root-free branches up to 6 inches in diameter will be collected.

The wood pile should be no larger than 4 feet by 8 feet.

Jackson Township will present four candidates competing for two trustee positions and five candidates in the running for three Jackson-Milton school board positions at 7 p.m. today in the township administration building, 10613 Mahoning Ave.

Road closings

YOUNGSTOWN

These downtown streets will be affected by the 2013 Youngstown State University Homecoming parade Saturday. Wood Street from Hazel Street to Fifth Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., with local traffic permitted access until the start of the parade at 2 p.m. The north- and southbound lanes of Fifth from Wood to the Eastbound Service Road will be closed from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Hazel from Commerce to Wood streets as well as Elm Street from Wood to Rayen Avenue will be closed from 1:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The Eastbound Service Road from Fifth to Elm also will be affected as the parade progresses.
