Judge reinstates murder charge in 2009 homicide

YOUNGSTOWN Judge Maureen Sweeney this morning ruled in favor of prosecutors and reinstated a murder charge against a man in a 2009 East Side homicide.

A final pretrial date will be set for Paul Brown, 33, who is accused of the May 2009 murder if Ashten Jackson.

Sweeney dismissed the charge against Brown Sept. 16 over the way a card in Brown’s cellphone was handled by police, but after a three hour hearing Tuesday prosecutors presented evidence that the phone was not tampered with.
