Residents of Howland Township can have up to five large garbage bags of paper shredded free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It will take place in the parking lot at the township gazebo on East Market Street near Howland High School. No office or commercial shredding is allowed.

WARREN
Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will team up with volunteers at 9 a.m. Oct. 26 for Make a Difference Day by hosting a beautification project on Woodland Avenue NE between Laird Avenue and the bike trail on Woodland Avenue. Volunteers are asked to meet and park at Mahoning Lighting & Maintenance, 848 Woodland Ave. NE. Activities include a litter cleanup along the southern end of the bike trail, painting of fire hydrants on Woodland Avenue and landscaping.
TNP will provide tools, but volunteers are encouraged to bring individual rakes, push brooms and/or shovels. Volunteers are invited to a picnic at the Warren Community Amphitheatre from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Task force grant
WARREN
The Trumbull County OVI Task Force has received $133,000 through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office for the year that begins Oct. 1.
The money is used to educate the public on the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, texting while driving and failing to use seat belts.
The grant covers about 14 law-enforcement agencies countywide and pays for checkpoints and saturation patrols, such as “Click It or Ticket,” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
The Warren Police Department has been awarded $39,000 through the Ohio Traffic Safety High Visibility Enforcement Overtime program to carry out the program.
