YOUNGSTOWN
The ICU Block Watch and St. Dominic Church will host a free Neighborhood Harvest Fest from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the gated lot at Cottage Grove and Auburndale Avenue, across from Horizon Science Academy.
Candy, cake, cotton candy and sno-cones will be offered, as well as music, bounce-arounds and kids’ identi-kits. Agencies that will take part include the Youngstown, Hubbard, Austintown, Boardman and YSU police departments, Youngstown fire department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mahoning County sheriff, K-9 units, emergency response teams and motorcyclists.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No costumes please.
Candidates night
LISBON
A “Meet the Candidates” night will be hosted by the Guilford Lake Civic Association at 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Guilford Lake Ruritan Hall, 33554 state Route 172.
The candidates will have time to present themselves and answer questions. All candidates are invited to participate; they should contact President Bob Gause, 330-222-1975 or Secretary Peg Leone, 330-222-1300 to secure a place on the agenda.
Leaf pickup to begin

The village is offering free leaf pick-up for 2013. Bags are free for village residents and can be picked up at the municipal building, 10711 Main St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Leaves will be picked up each Monday from next Monday to Nov. 25. For information, call 330-542-2846.
Palestinian forum
YOUNGSTOWN
Author, political and human rights activist, businessman and Palestinian leader Sam Bahour will explore “Palestine’s Political Economy” in a discussion from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Arab American Cultural and Educational Center, 15 Belgrade Ave. The presentation will be in English.
Bahour was born in Youngstown and graduated from Youngstown State University in 1989.
Complimentary snacks including pizza, salad, cookies and soft drinks will be provided.
