YSU police nab thief after chase

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University police believe they caught a man after a foot pursuit about 2:35 p.m. today who took some property from band members who were practicing for tomorrow’s game.

Chief John Beshara said officers chased the man on Fifth Avenue and managed to catch him in a parking deck on Lincoln Avenue.

Beshara said band members identified the person caught by police as the person who took their property.

Beshara said he did not know if the band was practicing at the football stadium or the new soccer stadium and he was still unsure what property may have been taken. He said a report would be available later.
