Local businessman and co-owner of Austintown Bounce Bruce Shepas has decided to run for trustee in the 2013 election.

When asked about this decision, Shepas stated that his choice was routed in his belief in the community he and his wife, Lisa, and daughters, Talia and Alexandria, call home.

“As a lifelong resident of Austintown, I believe that it is moving forward in the right direction and I want to represent our community with new, current and honest leadership,” he said. “I want to be the voice of the residents of Austintown.”

If elected, Shepas plans to work toward bringing more job growth to the area, support safety forces, upgrade and further utilize parks throughout the community, support the senior center, make sure that Racino money is properly managed and make sure that the township budget finishes in the black. Shepas is also concerned with the JEDD - the Joint Economic Development District - which he is firmly against.

Shepas is running against such names as current trustee Jim Davis, Ken Carano, Bob Raymond and Dave Stryffeler.

“I want people to realize that there are two trustee positions open to election,” said Shepas. “I think the current administration is doing a great job and I want to be a part of that. I think I can provide a fresh, new and current outlook on our growing community.”
