Canfield cross country teams compete in invitationals

The Canfield cross country team travelled to two locations on Sept. 17 to participate in two invitational races.

At East Palestine the boys team placed fifth out of 13 teams. The top five teams were Howland – 17, United – 81, East Liverpool – 94, East Canton – 114 and Canfield – 141. Placing for Canfield were Matt Coalmer (19th), Tyler Tarashawty (21st), Kyle Anderson (28th), Andrew Bell (34th), Rajan Solanki (42nd), Richie Abel (43rd) and Ben Targove (44th).

A total of 128 runners finished the race.

The girls’ team placed seventh out of 11 teams. The top five teams were Howland – 40, East Canton – 84, East Palestine – 99, United – 125 and West Branch – 130. Placing for Canfield were Amy Goddard (27th), Natalie Schoenfeld (28th), Hannah Nischwitz (33rd), Rosie Bresson (36th), Sarah Wyand (39th), Pragi Patel (44th) and Svetlana Lefoer (50th). A total of 93 runners finished the race. At the same time Canfield runners were also competing at the Tiffin Invitational. The boys team finished ninth with 358 points in a 41 team Division I A field. The top five teams were Cincinnati St. Xavier – 50, Dublin Jerome – 105, Hilliard Davidson – 188, Mentor – 264 and Chardon – 298. The field included the defending state champions from St. Xavier and four other state placing teams. Placing for Canfield were Chase Kern (25th), Alec Kennedy (56th), Tyler Kennedy (60th), Rollin Bresson (101st), Bryan Kristan (110th), Mack Mettille (276th) and Stephen Gant (230th). A total of 285 runners finished the race. The girls team finished 13th with 356 points in a 33 team Division I B field. Placing for Canfield were Devin Foley (12th), Rachel Rostek (70th), Raquel Markulin (73rd), Victoria Pacheco (11th), Isabelle Moyer (122nd), Anna Luongo (135th) and Jenny McClune (163rd). A total of 231 runners finished the race.

Runners establishing new personal records for the 3.1 mile distance were Devin Foley, Svetlana Lefoer, Raquel Markulin, Natalie Schoenfeld, Matt Coalmer, Trevor English, Stephen Gant, Alec Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy, Chase Kern, Bryan Kristan, Dan Sylak and Tyler Tarashawty.
