Canfield Boosters raise a glass to benefit volleyball

The Canfield Volleyball Boosters had its first Wine Taste and Chinese Auction at St. Michael’s Family Life Center Sept. 21. Hundreds of attendees gathered to support the volleyball teams, from seventh-grade to varsity.
Attendees were able to choose from 13 wines from Ohio Wine Imports and enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres from Aulizio’s Catering and dessert from The Mocha House.
The Chinese auction consisted of more than 60 baskets and items, such as restaurant gift cards, a lottery basket, an XBOX 360, a Canfield spirit wear basket, holiday items and jewelry. A door prize of a Canfield letterman’s jacket was also awarded to one lucky winner.
Canfield High School varsity volleyball coach Maria Householder welcomed everyone to the organization’s first fundraiser.
“Thank you so much for coming tonight and for your support of our volleyball teams. We hope you enjoy yourselves tonight,” Householder said.
Householder then introduced the teams’ coaches, including seventh-grade team coach Erin Angelo, eighth-grade team coach Liz O’Hara, freshman team coaches Cara Cupler and Mary Kate Andrews and junior varsity team coach Amanda Fabijance.
For attendees’ viewing pleasure, a slide show of all players in action was run continuously throughout the evening.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Canfield volleyball program.
