“Nova” (9 p.m., PBS): Hurricane Sandy is examined in “Megastorm Aftermath.”

Globetrotters will return to Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN

The Harlem Globetrotters will return to Covelli Centre at 7 p.m. Jan. 29. Tickets start at $19 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, the arena box office, and by calling 1-800-745-3000.

The show is part of the Globetrotters’ Fans Rule World Tour and online voting is now open at harlemglobetrotters.com, where fans can choose which new game-changing rules they want to see in their hometown. The 2014 online ballot includes three optional rules:

Hot Hand Jersey: The player wearing this jersey will receive double points on baskets.

Make or Miss: The quarter begins with only two players on the court for each team. Teammates enter the game with each score, but if a player misses a shot he must leave.

Trick Shot Challenge: Via three challenge flags per team, each coach can challenge the other team to make a 5-point trick shot. If they miss, the other team gets the points.

Poetry artist, singer will cap jazz series

YOUNGSTOWN

The final performance of the season in the Second Sundays with SounDoctrine series will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown, and will feature singer and spoken-word poet Joselyn Parker.

Admission is $8 ($15 for couple), and a light dinner menu will be offered by Guy’s BBQ. For dinner reservations, call 330-872-7256.

A Youngstown State University graduate, Parker fuses jazz, blues, funk, gospel and R&B.

Second Sundays will be on hiatus until February, when it will return with a monthly feature of Ohio wines and jazz artists from New York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
