Owners of classic cars, trucks or motorcycles are invited to Countryside of Mercer, 8221 Lamor Road, for a car cruise from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 30 vehicles. There will be no registration fee for cruisers. The event is co-sponsored by Mercer VFW and Countryside with Countryside’s rural campus serving as host site.

Countryside also will host a spaghetti dinner starting at 1 p.m. The dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, side salad, bread and dessert. Tickets for the dinner are $5 and are available at Countryside in advance or at the door.

Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Rick Armour. There will be a basket auction for numerous prizes. Children’s activities also will be offered.

Fire-safety event

Boardman

The Boardman Fire Department will host a fire-safety open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 136 Boardman-Poland Road. The event is sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1176 and is free to the public.

Refreshments will be provided, as well as a tour of the fire station, live burn demonstration, smoke house, extrication demonstration and fire-safety tips. Children will receive free helmets, stickers and coloring books.

Climate program

Dr. Wendy Ring will present “Does Climate Change Make You Sick?” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry Ave. NW.

Sponsors are Climate 911 and Hope Lutheran Parish that includes Messiah Lutheran in Newton Falls, Trinity Lutheran in Niles and St. Mark Lutheran and Emmanuel, both in Warren.

Dr. Ring is the organizer for Climate 911, an organization of physicians concerned about climate change as a health emergency.
