Comedy-mystery at PSU campus

Staff report

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club will present “Homicidal for the Holidays,” a comic murder-mystery written by local resident Anthony Elliott, next weekend at the campus auditorium, 147 Shenango Ave.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Admission will be $7 ($5 for students and seniors, and $3 for children 5 and under).

Elliott drew inspiration from a number of holiday sources, including classic Christmas tales and movies such as “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and “A Christmas Story.” A fan of murder mysteries, he also drew on that genre to create his sometimes sentimental, sometimes hard-boiled, and very wacky play.

The cast of “Homicidal for the Holidays” features seasoned Penn State Shenango actors plus several newcomers.

Elliott himself takes to the stage, portraying a guest at the Christmas costume party where the events unfold.

Others in the cast include Jacob Elliott, Miranda Bizzarri, Khyana Johnson, Kyle Davis, Alex Marosy, Amber Edeburn, April McNamara and Nick Taylor.

Making their stage debut will be Kendra Newton, Steven Shook and Alessia Scoccia.

Jeanne Zingale, a theater and communications instructor at Penn State Shenango, is the director.
