Poland Village event lights up the holiday season

The lawn of Poland Village Hall, Peterson Park and other community spaces in Poland will be glowing when the Annual Lighting of the Village takes place on Dec. 7.

This is the fifth year for the free community event, which celebrates the beginning of the holiday season. Additional donations have made it possible for the LOV committee to add lights and expand the areas decorated for the holiday this year.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of Peterson Park, the small triangular park near the clock tower. Carriage rides, carols, cookie decorating, and refreshments are available at several locations around the center of Poland, including at Village Hall, Wittenauer’s Caf , Kravitz Deli and Poland library.

New this year, children can make reindeer food and other crafts while waiting for Santa Claus to arrive, and the illumination of the lights and big Christmas Tree at Village Hall. All crafts, refreshments, and carriage rides are free, thanks to Poland Junior Women’s Club, Poland Rotary and other community organizations and supporters that have worked to grow the event.
