POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 20

Harassment: A Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road man reported having been harassed.

Nov. 21

Burglary: Jonathan D. Hall, 23, of Woodbine Avenue, Struthers, and 20-year-old Anthony M. Linzey, same address, were charged with burglary and complicity to burglary, respectively, after someone broke into a Bedford Road residence and stole two pocket knives, a set of headphones and other items.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 21

Theft: A man stole a 32-inch TV valued at $248 from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Melrose Avenue was found with three puncture marks in its convertible top. Damage was estimated at $400.

Theft: Two computer flash-drive devices were taken from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Auto theft: A 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was rented but not returned to Enterprise Rent-a-Car, 7880 Market St.

Theft: Two women stole 41 bras valued at $1,867 from Victoria’s Secret in the Southern Park Mall.

Fraud: A Colleen Drive man reported a caller pretending to be his son-in-law claimed to have been in a vehicular accident in Tucson, Ariz., and needed $1,000 sent. The man’s wife informed him it was a scam before he withdrew any money, a report showed.

Theft: A township boy, 17, was charged with stealing an iPod speaker and a splitter device from Walmart.

Employee theft: Authorities took custody of 27-year-old Amanda P. Smith, who listed addresses on Lemoyne Avenue, Boardman, and in Campbell. Smith was wanted on felony receiving-stolen-property and forgery charges after a manager of a South Avenue motel alleged an employee had taken $280 from the business.

Theft: Michael T. Burkholder, 24, of Park Avenue, Struthers, was booked at the Mahoning County jail after being accused of stealing four packs of socks from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Harassment: An Arden Boulevard woman said her daughter-in-law has sent her several such text messages.

Theft: Three people stole three boxes of baby formula from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive.

Theft: Laconthea L. Korneagay, 30, of Robinson Road, Campbell, was charged with stealing six DVDs, a cellphone card and a pack of batteries from Walmart.

Nov. 22

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possibly suicidal person on Washington Boulevard before taking 23-year-old Kaleb E. Simpson of state Route 7, New Waterford, into custody. He was wanted on felony charges of tampering with evidence and cocaine possession.

Theft: A man stole 48 packages of snack items from a Get Go gas station, 6911 South Ave.

Theft: Kayla S. Sweitzer, 25, faced a felony theft charge after police alleged Sweitzer, of Royal Mall Drive, Niles, stole $1,016 worth of merchandise, mainly DVDs and a 32-inch TV, from Walmart.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 5900 block of Market Street resulted in 52-year-old Edward G. Easton’s arrest on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments. Easton, of South Raccoon Road, Austintown, had a bag containing three syringes and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, a report said.

Theft: A Glendale Avenue woman accused a friend of taking a set of apartment and car keys from her.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 100 block of Washington Boulevard via the front door. Stolen was a purse containing medications.

Theft: A woman in her 30s stole $518 worth of perfume from Sears in the Southern Park Mall, then fled in a green Ford Focus.

Theft: A man and a woman took an $85 pair of shoes from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A man stole $14.50 worth of socks and undergarments from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Nov. 23

Robbery: Police responded to a shoplifting situation at Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, where Robert Goncalves II of Steubenville faced charges of robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. The 30-year-old Goncalves failed to cooperate with loss-prevention officials and had a .32-caliber revolver in his coat, police said.

Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 11 and 12, were charged, accused of stealing five packs of cigars and four packages of condoms from Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possible breaking-and-entering situation in the 200 block of Boardman-Poland Road before taking into custody 25-year-old Joseph A. Sandy of Southern Boulevard, Boardman. Sandy was wanted on a probation-violation warrant from Cuyahoga County related to charges of burglary, breaking and entering, vandalism, possession of criminal tools, theft and aggravated theft.

Theft: Jerome L.C. Atkins, 38, of Princeton Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of stealing about $646 worth of clothing from Macy’s.

Theft: Brad A. Ruozzo, 23, of Jefferson Street, Campbell, was charged after being accused of stealing a $298 computer tower and keyboard from Walmart.

Burglary: Took place in the 7300 block of Ranier Trail via a rear door. Four Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers tickets and a Kindle were removed.

Theft: A man took two electronic tablets worth $360 from Kohl’s.

Criminal mischief: A Westfield Drive woman saw that someone had painted swastikas and several obscenities on her vehicle’s windows.

Theft: A man and a woman stole an undetermined quantity of meat products from Modarelli’s Sparkle Market, 4121 South Ave.

Nov. 24

Theft: Stacey A. Lucas, 39, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Poland, surrendered on a warrant charging her with stealing from Walmart a baseball cap and two compact discs.

Arrest: Police near Zedaker Drive pulled over and arrested 22-year-old Ronald E. Bell III of Kendis Circle, Youngstown, on a Trumbull County warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court. Bell also was cited on a driving-under-suspension charge.

Theft: Two women stole four breast pumps worth a total of $680 from Babies “R” Us.

Drug paraphernalia: Michael E. Tenney of Afton Avenue, Boardman, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police said Tenney, 55, had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe in a cigarette pack. He also was charged with operating a vehicle impaired during the traffic stop near South Avenue.

Theft: A dealer license-plate was removed from a car in the 8400 block of Market Street.

Theft: An Argyle Avenue woman reported a gas-powered generator and a carpet scrubber stolen, and that several prescriptions were filled without consent.

Identity fraud: Youngstown police handed 31-year-old Jessica L. Price of Detroit Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. Price faced a felony identity-fraud charge after a family member alleged she had used the accuser’s identity during a traffic stop near Market Street to avoid receiving a citation.

Theft: Three people left Buffalo Wild Wings in the Southern Park Mall without paying a $90 bar tab.

Theft: A man in his 30s stole a $165 Sony PlayStation 3 system from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: A traffic stop on East Midlothian Boulevard resulted in 51-year-old Gary L. Givens’ arrest. Givens, of Oak Street, Lowellville, was wanted on a Warren warrant accusing him of failing to pay fines related to a charge of driving under suspension.

Theft: An Erie, Pa., man discovered a prescription was stolen and filled at a township pharmacy without permission.

Domestic violence: Samuel J. Miller, 41, of Teakwood Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Miller had pushed her into a set of kitchen cupboards, causing her glasses to break, during an argument. The accuser was bleeding from a cut nose, police said.

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in charges of operating a vehicle impaired and child endangerment against 18-year-old Brandon D. Reyes after police said Reyes, of 16th Street Campbell, had two 17-year-olds in the car.

Nov. 25

Criminal damaging: A large landscaping stone likely was used to break a car’s window in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Robbery: Jarrett N. Drajic, 19, was taken into custody at his Struthers Road residence on a robbery charge. The New Middletown man was accused of knocking to the ground and injuring a woman in the Southern Park Mall parking lot, then stealing her purse.

Theft: Two Boardman girls, 16 and 17, were charged in the theft of a tee shirt, a hooded sweat shirt and other merchandise from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Felonious assault: Police received information that a man had been struck in the head with a beer bottle during a party in the 400 block of Rockdale Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 1800 block of Woodlawn Avenue used a pellet gun to shoot and damage a shed’s door.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Wellsville woman said she loaned her 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier to someone while in the 20 block of Carter Circle but that the car was never returned.

Theft: A man discovered his wallet missing from his apartment in the 600 block of Cook Avenue.

Vandalism: A vehicle’s tire sustained $70 in damage in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue.

Theft: A man and a woman stole a bottle of glass cleaner and two car-care products from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Assault: A Ewing Road woman alleged her boyfriend had struck her face during an argument.

Theft: A boy, 16, and a girl, 17, both of Youngstown, were charged in the theft of a DVD, a backpack and other items from Walmart.

Theft: Youngstown authorities handed over to township police 32-year-old Theresa M. Posey of West Evergreen Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on one count each of theft and assault.

Assault: A Struthers woman reported that while in the 800 block of Boardman-Poland Road, she was assaulted and had a set of keys stolen from her.
