76-year-old charged with assault

BOARDMAN — Boardman police arrested a 76-year-old North Lima man Tuesday on an assault warrant.

Police were called to Mahoning County Court Boardman to book Ralph Ridgeway of South Range Road.

He is also being charged with menacing by stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor.

A woman reported to police in early November that Ridgeway assaulted her at Country Fair on South Avenue.

She claimed Ridgeway “bear hugged” her and would not let her go, according to a police report.

When she screamed, he finally let her go.

She also told police she filed other reports with police in reference to Ridgeway’s stalking her.

Ridgeway pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday.

His pretrial is set at 4 p.m. Jan. 23.
