Update: Man jailed after crashing into stopped Warren police cruiser, hurting officer

David Weber, a Warren police officer, was injured in a traffic crash that occurred while Weber was standing beside his cruiser at a traffic stop on West Market Street just west of Main Street Monday night.

A car driven by Jermaine Hall, 36, of Scott Street in Warren, hit the back of Weber’s cruiser, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Southington Post, which investigated the accident.

Weber was leaning partially into his cruiser at the time of the crash. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the 8:30 p.m. accident and was taken to St. Joseph Health Center for treatment. He was later released.

Hall, who was not injured, attempted to leave the scene, but he was stopped by several other Warren police officers and taken into custody.

Hall was taken to the Trumbull County jail, charged with aggravated vehicular assault, a felony, and he will be arraigned today in Warren Municipal Court.

The vehicle Weber had pulled over was in front of his cruiser, but it was not impacted by the crash, the patrol said.
