Pleads guilty

WARREN

Scott Walker, 33, accused of killing 4-year-old Nicholas Partin in June, has pleaded guilty to a probation violation and been sentenced to one year in prison.

Walker admitted being arrested in relation to the child’s death Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. That arrest was a probation violation, prosecutors said.

Walker remains in Trumbull County Jail awaiting a Feb. 24 trial in the child’s death, which occurred at the home Walker, the boy and the boy’s mother shared on North Park Avenue Extension in Bazetta Township.

Prosecutors say Walker struck the boy in the stomach with his hand June 14, which caused the boy to die from internal injuries sometime that night or early the next day, when family members called 911.

Second fire at house

WARREN

A home at 1216 Buena Vista Ave. NE that caught fire early Friday, causing $10,000 in damage, caught on fire again early Monday, causing an additional $5,000 in damage.

The Friday fire was at 12:31; Monday’s fire was at 12:10. The second fire is deemed to be arson because of being almost exactly three days after the first fire, said Ken Nussle, Warren fire chief.

Monday’s fire caused additional damage to the first and second floors of the vacant home, Nussle said. No injuries were reported.
