A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for the Thanksgiving holiday. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.
City offices: Youngstown, Salem, closed Thursday; Warren, Niles, Sharon, Newton Falls Municipal Court, closed Thursday and Friday; New Castle, closing 2 p.m. Wednesday and closed Thursday and Friday.
County offices: Mahoning and Columbiana, closed Thursday; Trumbull, Mercer, Lawrence, closed Thursday and Friday.
State and federal offices: Closed Thursday.
Schools: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Salem, closed Wednesday through Friday; Sharon, closed Thursday and Friday; New Castle, closed Wednesday through Monday; Youngstown Diocese, closed Thursday and Friday; please contact your local school to confirm.
Universities: Youngstown State, closed Wednesday through Friday; Kent State at Trumbull, closed Thursday through Saturday.
Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA): Closed Thursday; regular schedule Friday.
Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, McKinley Memorial Library-Niles, closed Thursday; Newton Falls Public Library, Hubbard Public Library, early closing 5 p.m. Wednesday and closed Thursday; Warren-Trumbull, early closing 6 p.m Wednesday and closed Thursday; Bristol Public Library-Bristolville, early closing noon Wednesday, closed Thursday and Friday; Kinsman Free Public Library, closed Thursday through Saturday; Girard Free Library, closed Tuesday through Sunday.
