Seven Springs, Hidden Valley to open for skiing

CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) — Southwestern Pennsylvania’s two major winter resorts are making snow and planning to open for skiing and snowboarding on Friday.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Resort says they began making snow Nov. 19, when overnight temperatures became low enough to do so. They continued making snow from Saturday through Monday and planned to resume snow-making Tuesday night — though a winter storm moving through the area is forecast to drop several inches of real snow on higher elevations through Wednesday.

Seven Springs bought out Hidden Valley earlier this year. Both are reporting a snow base ranging from eight to 26 inches.

For now, the resorts plan to open from Friday through Sunday. Hours of operation beyond this weekend will be determined later in the week.
