The deal includes $3 million in performance bonuses and a $10 million vesting option for 2015.

Sources: Wolves to deal Williams to Kings

MINNEAPOLIS

The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading former No. 2 overall draft pick Derrick Williams to the Sacramento Kings for Luc Mbah a Moute. Two people with knowledge of the deal say the agreement was reached on Monday night. The people requested anonymity because neither team has officially announced the deal.

Williams was the No. 2 overall draft choice in 2011. But he never was able to carve a niche in Rick Adelman’s rotation and it became increasingly clear early this season that he had no role on the Timberwolves.

Ex-NFL supervisor of referees, Seeman, dies

BLAINE, Minn.

Former NFL supervisor of officials Jerry Seeman, who worked as the chief referee in two Super Bowls, has died after a long bout with cancer at age 77. Seeman died Sunday at his home in Blaine, Minn., league spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed Monday. The St. Paul Pioneer Press first reported the death of Seeman, who was an NFL game official from 1975 to 1990, including 12 seasons as a lead referee.

Seeman moved to the league office in 1991 and served 10 years as the supervisor of officials until his retirement. Seeman was credited for introducing a program for sending officiating crews to training camps to work practices and scrimmages and meet with players and coaches. That program was designed to improve communication and understanding between the two sides.

GM on Peralta: Cards not ‘morality police’

ST. LOUIS

The St. Louis Cardinals factored in Jhonny Peralta’s drug suspension when they negotiated a $53 million, four-year contract with the free agent shortstop. General manager John Mozeliak said Monday that Peralta had admitted wrongdoing and served his penalty, and that the Cardinals weren’t about to appoint themselves “morality police.”

The 31-year-old Peralta was suspended for 50 games last summer following MLB’s investigation of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic, which was accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs. He underwent a physical on Sunday in St. Louis but did not attend the introductory news conference.

Peralta gets $15.5 million next year, $15 million in 2015, $12.5 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2017.
