Life in prison without parole for parent killer Louis Mann

A Trumbull County judge has supported the decision of a jury, sentencing Louis Mann to life in prison without possibility of parole for killing his parents two years ago.

Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court gave Mann his sentence Tuesday.

A jury convicted Mann in October of killing his parents, Frances Mann, 53, and Phillip Mann, 59, in their Jefferson Street Southwest home.

The jury decided against the death penalty after four members indicated there was no way they were going to change their mind, one juror said.

One juror said watching Louis Mann and listening to his unsworn statement made her feel Mann was remorseful for killing his parents, even though he was not good at expressing it.

James F. Guzan, cousin of Frances Mann, gave a victim impact statement, saying Louis Mann’s last name is ironic. “You are not a man. You are not a good son, husband and especially a father,” he said.
