The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Boardman Township police responded to a car accident during the afternoon rush hour Monday on Market Street in front of Akron Children’s Hospital.

A green Lincoln and silver Ford Flex collided after the Lincoln failed to yield to traffic while turning onto Market Street from Brookfield Avenue, police said. After the collision, the Flex was thrown into a pole and sustained major damage to the driver’s side and left front bumper.

There were two female occupants in each vehicle. There were only minor injuries for those involved. The driver of the Flex was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center as a precaution, the state patrol said.

The driver of the Lincoln will be cited with failure to yield.
