Members of the police department’s Accident Investigation Unit are seeking help in solving a hit-and-run accident in August in which a bicyclist was killed.

Members of the unit have given the information to the Crimestoppers program for information about the death of 53-year-old Lori Fiscus of Youngstown.

Fiscus was killed about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22 as she was riding her bicycle southbound in the 2500 block of Elm Street. Her bicycle collided with a car that was traveling north on Elm Street that never stopped.

Officer Brian Booksing of the AIU said witnesses told responding officers the car Fiscus collided with was possibly a blue Pontiac Grand Am but they have no other information.

At this point, investigators are not even sure how the accident occurred, Booksing said.

“We had a couple of witnesses, but their descriptions were very vague,” Booksing said.

Booksing said police have almost no evidence other than the make and model of the car that was involved in the accident.

“It’s very important for any witnesses to get involved and help us,” Booksing said. “Even if they think it’s the smallest detail, give us a call and we’ll follow up.”

Booksing said investigators did get some tips about the accident but none of them panned out.

Initial reports did say the driver of the car was a man. The car is reported to be a Grand Am model years 1998-2005 that would have had damage to its windshield, driver’s side and hood.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 330-746-CLUE. A cash reward may be given out for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime. Or they can call the AIU at 330-742-8775.
