Two claimed to be robbed in Austintown incident

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown police are investigating an aggravated burglary that took place at a residence over the weekend.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a residence in the 4300 block of Mahoning Avenue to respond to a report of a robbery at gun point.

Two white males with hooded sweatshirts and one with a gun entered the apartment and reportedly took money and credit cards from a man and woman.

Footprints were located outside the apartment complex and a police dog led police to another apartment complex.

The two victims of the robbery told police a friend was supposed to come to the apartment and when the doorbell rang they assumed it was the friend. When they opened the door, two men came in demanding money, according to the report.

The male victim gave the men $100, but the suspects demanded more money or they would shoot both victims.

The male victim handed over his wallet with his social security card, debit card and credit card in it.

The victim told police he refused to give the men the PIN number for the debit card so one of the suspects hit him in the eye with the gun.

He attempted to grab the gun and then the suspects left.

The female victim in the robbery told police she gave the suspects $30.

The male victim revealed to police that he was a drug addict. Prior to the robbery both victims planned to purchase 10 Percocet pills from the friend who was supposed to come over.

The female victim would not tell police what exactly happened without an attorney.

No arrests have been made in the incident.
