Shannon Matula became the bride of Chad Baker on Aug. 31 at Canfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chip Freed, the bride’s uncle and pastor of Garfield Memorial Church in Pepper Pike, Ohio, officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at Avalon Lakes Country Club at Buhl in Hermitage, Pa.

Shirley and John Matula of Canfield are the parents of the bride, and Lisa and Kirk Baker are the groom’s parents.

The bride wore a mermaid-style, over-the-shoulder gown with ruffles.

Missy Matula, the bride’s sister, was her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Vanessa Schutz, Megan Dunchak, Tiana Freed, Erin Green, Sarah Campbell and Abby and Jill Baker, the groom’s sisters.

Sean Baker, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Dan Freed-Pastor, James Wilcox, Jonathan Frommelt, Brian Bennett, Joe Pitzer, Ron Hinderliter and Joseph Mamounis. Ushers were Brendan Beil, Tim Novotny and Will Freed-Pastor.

Mrs. Baker earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology from Duquesne University. She owns a dog boutique and does freelance marketing for small businesses.

Her husband received a degree in economics from Ohio State University. He works in the finance department at Thompson Hine in Cleveland.

After a honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica, the couple reside in Avon Lake.
