A preview party, An American Holiday, is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Butler Institute of American Art for those who would like to shop, dine and select from the works of 100 artists and crafters ahead of the crowds. The event is a prelude to the 43rd Annual American Fine Arts & Crafts Show at the Butler.
Reservations must be made on or before Nov. 26. Call 330-743-1107, ext. 210 for information. Tickets will be mailed and are required for admission and a door prize drawing.
On the night of Dec. 6, those attending will receive additional discounts in the Butler gift shop. The evening also will feature a gourmet buffet supper, wine and beer included, by AVI Foodsystems Inc.
Tickets are priced at $40 per person for Butler members and $50 per person for nonmembers. Donations are accepted from those who cannot attend. Make checks payable to BIAA and mail to: American Holiday Preview Party, The Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502.

• Spring mix with shaved red onion, roasted golden beets, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and red wine vinaigrette.
• Thyme-seared chicken with amaretto cream sauce.
• Gremolata-grilled Salmon with lemon-caper berre blanc.
• Pesto penne with grilled portobello mushrooms and roasted red peppers.
• Herb-roasted red skin potatoes.
• Lemon-garlic grilled asparagus.
• Rolls and butter.
• Assorted mini-desserts: pecan bars, petits fours and mini-strawberry shortcake stacks.
• Coffee, hot tea, beer and wine.
Featured during the event will be works by 100 artists and crafters in a variety of media, and a chance auction, which is a basket auction with a twist.
