Michael L. Green, 33, of Jackson Street Southwest, was indicted Wednesday in federal court on charges related to his Oct. 28 arrest as he left a home on Kenwood Drive Southeast that had been shot up.
Green was charged with four felonies in Warren Municipal Court just after the arrest — two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
Now he faces charges in federal court of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of body armor by a violent felon.
The firearm charge carries a possible penalty of 15 years to life if convicted. He would be labeled an armed career criminal.
The indictment says he was in possession of body armor, a MAADI assault rifle and a Ruger pistol, 97 rounds of ammunition for the assault rifle and 16 rounds of ammunition for the Ruger on Oct. 28.
A Warren police report said a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was nearby and arrested Green as he attempted to drive away from the home on Kenwood at 12:44 a.m. just after shots had been fired into the home, damaging the interior but not injuring anyone.
Police said Green’s assault rifle had a nearly full 100-round drum magazine, and he was wearing body armor.
It was the house where Taemarr Walker had lived until his death just over a week earlier on Risher Road Southwest in a confrontation with a police officer.
It was two days after the killing of Richard C. Rollison IV, 24, of Niles, at a West Market Street gas station. Taemarr Walker’s brother, TaShawn Walker, 26, was charged with aggravated murder in the Rollison killing.
Green’s indictment says he was convicted in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court in 2000 with failing to obey the orders of a police officer and in 2002 of burglary and assault on a peace officer.
