Brighten Up for Kids will help sick children

Brighten Up for the Kids, led by Megan Stevens of Youngstown Cycle Supply, is again collecting gifts and donations for the children at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and the special care unit for babies.

A Christmas light competition on Market Street is part of the fun. By making the area surrounding the hospital cheery and bright it might help the kids, their families and hospital staff feel the Christmas spirit.

The Santa List for the kids includes:

•coloring books

•crayons

•craft sets

•games

•books

•infant toys

•mobiles

•onesies

The collection and the light challenge will begin Wednesday and run through Jan. 7. The last day for dropping off toys will be Dec. 23. For information call Stevens at 330-788-9078.

Last year the charitable collection gathered more than 2,500 gifts and more than $500 for the children at Akron’s Children’s Hospital.
