YNDC gets federal grant for urban-gardening program

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. received funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expand training for residents looking to start their own urban farms and community gardens.

The organization received the $296,816 federal grant in September from the Community Food Project, but the USDA announced the award today.

YNDC was one of 26 projects across the country to receive a slice of $4.87 million in total awards.
