Ohio mayor's car hit by gunfire

CLAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a car driven by the mayor of a suburban Dayton city was hit by gunfire after a crash involving some other vehicles escalated into shots fired.

Clayton Mayor Joyce Deitering wasn’t hurt in the shooting Tuesday night in the city, according to The Dayton Daily News.

City public safety director Richard Rose said Deiterling’s car “was caught in the line of fire and her vehicle was struck by at least one of the errant shots.”

Rose said the conflict may have started earlier and possibly involved as many as four vehicles chasing one car. There were reports that as many as 15 shots fired. A 25-year-old man was shot in the hand during the exchange. There have been no arrests.
