BREAKING | Ferrara found guilty of 1974 Marsh murders

YOUNGSTOWN

James Ferrara has been found guilty of the Dec. 13, 1974, murders of Benjamin Marsh, 33; his wife Marilyn, 32; and their 4-year-old daughter Heather.

The verdicts were returned about 1:15 p.m. in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. They had been deliberating since 8:30 a.m. today and for about 45 minutes Wednesday.

The verdicts were read by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.

Ferrara was indicted for the deaths in June after investigators matched a set of prints found on an outside garage door at the crime scene with Ferrara in 2009. He has been serving a sentence for a double homicide he was convicted of in the Columbus area in 1983.

Prosecutors offered no motive during the trial for the slayings.
