YOUNGSTOWN

Police responding to a shooting call on the South Side early Tuesday found a man running through a parking lot wearing no pants and shoes, and bleeding.

Police say Aaron Lamont Jones, 19, of Fairgreen Avenue, is being treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot three times, including in the neck and back.

He was found running in the parking lot of Ally’s Food Mart, 3216 South Ave., about 5:40 a.m. A pair of bloody sweatpants was found on a nearby front porch on East Boston Avenue.

A neighbor in the 300 block of East Boston Avenue called police after they said someone was pounding on their front door trying to get inside. As officers were on their way, they got another call from someone in the 300 block of East Avondale Avenue who also said a person was pounding on their front door.

That person told police they told the person knocking to go to the gas station and they would call police.

A house on East Boston Avenue was searched after witnesses said the victim had lived there. Police checked the house and found blood there, reports said. Members of the crime lab and the detective bureau were then called out.

Capt. Brad Blackburn, head of the detective bureau, said Jones was able to say he was standing on the corner of East Boston and South avenues when he was shot but that was all he was able to say before he was taken to the hospital.
