Detective says Ferrara denies being at Marsh home

YOUNGSTOWN The defendant in a 1974 triple homicide in Canfield Township told Mahoning County Sheriff's detectives there was no way his fingerprints could have been at the crime scene.

Detective Pat Mondora testified this morning in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court that when he told 64-year-old James Ferrara his prints were found at the South Turner Road home where Benjamin Marsh, his wife, and 4-year-old daughter were murdered, Ferrara answered "that's impossible."

"He said, 'If people told you I was talking to him [Marsh], they're lying.'" He also told Mondora at one point, "I don't even know where Canfield is."

Mondora is the last witness for prosecutors, who began their case Monday. Ferrara was charged in the murders in June after his fingerprints were matched in 2009 with prints found on a garage door.
