Warren Mayor Doug Franklin and Trumbull County Commissioner Paul Heltzel, along with representatives from the Southern Regional Education Board’s High Schools That Work initiative, will present a banner to the Trumbull Career and Technical Center in recognition its designation as “Ohio’s Top Career Center.”

The presentation will take place at 1 p.m. today in the school cafeteria. TCTC was the lone Ohio recipient of the Outstanding Technology Centers That Work award, which was presented during the SREB’s annual staff-development conference July 17-20 in Charlotte, N.C.

Crash kills woman

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 376 in Pulaski Township at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Chong S. Wigley, 71, of Corry Road, New Castle, was driving west in the right lane when she struck the rear of the car in front of her, Pennsylvania State Police said. Her car rolled over several times.

A passenger, Jacqueline Wigley, 62, also of New Castle, was not hurt. The driver of the other car, Tilinda Rosales, 51, of Sharon, Pa., was not hurt. State police said everyone was wearing seat belts.

Youngstown CityScape, a nonprofit downtown beautification and preservation organization, will announce the winners of the seventh annual “Youngstown CityScape Beautification Awards” at a reception after a board meeting at 5 p.m. today at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center at Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave.
