‘Specter of Treason’ book fair at store

Staff report

BOARDMAN

The Victorian Players will have a book fair at the Barnes & Noble book store, in the Shops at Boardman Park on U.S. Route 224 from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday as a tie-in with the theater company’s production of “Specter of Treason — The Oswald Trial.”

The play opens Friday at the Victorian Players Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, and runs weekends through Dec. 8.

Patrons who present a book voucher at the store Saturday will help raise money for the Victorian Players. The vouchers will be available at Barnes & Noble that day. They also are available at the theater and from any “Specter of Treason” cast member. A portion of the sale of items in which the voucher is presented will benefit the theater.

Members of the cast of the play, which presents a fictitious trial of JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, will be at the store Saturday to perform scenes from the show, which raises questions as to who actually shot the president.

The Victorian Players and J&B Production Arts are staging “Specter of Treason,” which was written and directed by J.E. Ballantyne Jr. of Youngstown, to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination. For reservations, call 330-746-5455.
