Ohio lawmaker proposes 3-day sales-tax holiday
COLUMBUS — A Republican lawmaker wants the state to create a three-day sales-tax holiday on clothing, electronics and other items.
Sen. Kevin Bacon, a Defiance native who represents a Columbus-area district, said his proposal would save consumers about $78 million each year and help families purchase supplies before the start of the school year.
“It’s a good opportunity to give a break to our families in Ohio at back-to-school time and to provide economic stimulus in our retail merchants and local businesses,” Bacon said. “We believe that this legislation will do just that.”
