Akron Childrens in Boardman gets $2 million MRI project

BOARDMAN

Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley today received a new state of the art MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) that was placed by crane in a special modular building designed for the piece of equipment. The equipment weighs 10,000 pounds and the whole unit will be up and running by the end of the year. The full project cost, including the MRI and construction as well as an anesthesia suite, was $2 million, hospital officials said today.

This MRI expands access to diagnostic imagery that supports clinical applications in neurology, orthopedics, body imaging, cardiology and fetal, said Michael Rubin, chairman of Akron Childrens Hospital in Akron department of radiology.
