Youngstown residents charged with drug trafficking in Campbell

CAMPBELL

Two Youngstown residents were arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday on charges including drug trafficking and possession of drugs following a traffic stop.

At about 6:15 p.m., police stopped an SUV driving on Gladstone Street for having several objects hanging from the rear view mirror, and also for having a cracked front windshield and a nonfunctional rear license plate light.

When an officer approached the SUV, the driver — identified as Arvella R. Davis, 34, of Sunshine Avenue — appeared extremely nervous, and was unable to give the officer his full attention.

Davis then gave police consent to search the SUV. The officer opened the center console lid and looked through a hole in the plastic of the base console, revealing a plastic bag. He accessed the baggie by removing the plastic inserts of the console’s cup holders.

In the large bag, police found several smaller bags of suspected crack cocaine totaling 10.4 grams, along with 8.2 grams of suspected marijuana, pills and a cellphone.

On Davis’ person, police also found two bags of suspected crack cocaine totaling 0.4 grams, one bag of suspected marijuana totaling 1.7 grams, and $952 in cash.

On the SUV’s passenger — identified as Priscilla L. Jackson, 31, of South Heights Avenue — police found $125.49 in cash.

Davis and Jackson are charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and also for failing to have a prescription label.

Davis was also cited for the traffic offenses.

Both are set to appear in Campbell Municipal Court on Tuesday.
