Police find pills and cash after chase

YOUNGSTOWN

Police found 20 pills and $664 cash after a chase earlier this morning.

Reports said officers tried to pull over a car driven by 22-year-old Gregory Urbanek Jr. of Youngstown about 3:30 a.m. on the South Side for driving with no headlights.

Reports said Urbanek pulled over on Oak Hill Avenue and officers smelled marijuana coming from inside the car. Before they could get him out, however, he drove away and was chased until he hit a pole on West Delason Avenue.

Urbanek ran from the car and officers used a police dog from Boardman to search for him and found him hiding underneath a porch at 197 Willis Ave. The drugs and money were found in his pockets.

He faces charges of fleeing and eluding and possession of dangerous drugs and is in the Mahoning County jail awaiting arraignment later today.
