Austintown man faces charge of inducing panic

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown police arrested a 35-year-old man on Saturday for inducing panic.

Mark McNany, of Aldrich Road, is accused of attempting to use the stove in his home, even though the gas company red tagged it for a gas leak, according to a police report.

McNany’s girlfriend called police because he said he was going to use the stove.

McNany told officers he needed the stove to cook food.

Officers advised him not to use the stove because it could harm not only him, but other residents in the area.

As officers excited the residence McNany said he would turn the gas back on. He was then arrested for inducing panic.

He was taken to Mahoning County jail until his arraignment at 1 p.m. today.
