2 tornadoes confirmed in NW Ohio storm Sunday

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The National Weather Service is confirming that two tornadoes touched down in northwest Ohio during the damaging storms that cut across the Midwest.

The weather service says a tornado that toppled a drive-in movie screen and damaged buildings south and east of Toledo on Sunday had a preliminary rating of EF-2 with winds up between 111-135 mph.

Another tornado that touched down in Jerry City near Bowling Green had a preliminary rating of EF-1 with winds up between 86-110 mph.

The tornado that touched down near Toledo followed a path similar to another one that destroyed a high school and killed seven people just over three years ago.

There were no reports of widespread or significant injuries in Sunday’s storms.
