Prayer breakfast

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Valley Association of Churches has scheduled the 28th annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 26 at Mahoning Country Club.

The interfaith event will feature guest speaker Bonnie Burdman, director of Jewish Community Relations Council of Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. Her topic will be “Welcoming the Stranger: We Are All the Other.”

Spirituality Day

Benedictine Sisters of Queen of Heaven Monastery will host a Spirituality Day from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Center, 180 Belvedere Ave., N.E.,

The Rev. Frank Hanincik, director of spiritual formation at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, will be guest speaker. His topic is “Let Us Go Out to Meet Him.”

There will be time for reflection, questions, refreshments and the sacrament of reconciliation. Participants also may pray vespers with the nuns.

Advent retreat

The Ursuline Center is offering an Advent retreat “What Do I Most Want?” for those interested in preparing for the celebration of Christmas in a way that allows them to anticipate the birth of Christ with a renewed sense of discipleship.

The retreat will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel, 4250 Shields Road.

The group will use a contemplative method of praying with Scripture to connect participants’ stories with Gospel descriptions of the nativity.

A light brunch will be included. Donation is $15.

Concert planned

DAMASCUS

Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road, will present the Colonial City Quartet in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. The group combines four-part harmony in traditional Southern Gospel music.

The quartet was founded in 1985 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Members are Tim Campbell of Mansfield, the only original member; his son, David Campbell of Lucas, Ohio; Kim Brown of Bellville, Ohio; and Aaron Moger of Ashland, Ohio.

A free-will offering will be taken. Fellowship and refreshments will follow.

Revival meeting

A revival meeting is planned at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 124 W. Marion St.

Speaker will be Elder Allen B. Wilson of the Greater NEO District of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church. The Rev. Mary Kidd is pastor.
