Driver charged after car hits, destroys house in Hartford

Deputies charged Taylor J. Matson, 19, of Perkins-Greenville Road in Kinsman with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to control and a stop-sign violation after he drove his car into a house early Friday, destroying it.
Matson hit the house at 4145 Bushnell-Campbell Road at the intersection with Spencer Clark Road at 2:02 a.m. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, where he was treated and a blood sample was taken.
The crash destroyed the house and a vehicle parked in the driveway. The home’s resident, Rebecca Smith, and a second unidentified person in the home were not injured and were offered help through the Red Cross.
When deputies with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office arrived, they found Matson at the scene, and he admitted to drinking an entire bottle of whiskey.
