Speed was a factor in triple fatal Sharon accident, police say

SHARON

The Sharon Police Department has concluded its investigation into the Nov. 8 crash on East Connelly Boulevard, finding that the sport-utility vehicle Cory Swartz, 18, was driving was traveling at between 55 and 60 miles per hour.

The speed limit there is 40 miles per hour.

That conclusion “supports the conclusion that the speed of the Mazda [SUV] was a factor in the accident,” Sharon Police Chief Michael J. Menster said in a press release.

The crash killed Swartz, of Sharon, and a passenger in his car, Evan Gill, 17, of Sharon. It also killed the driver of the other vehicle, John Zdelar Jr., 50, of Brookfield.
