Prostitution sting nets arrest of woman

Township police arrested a 45-year-old Cleveland woman Wednesday on a prostitution charge.

Lori Anne Clancey is charged with soliciting sex for money, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Clancey was caught by police in a prostitution sting after 6 p.m. Police recorded Clancey discussing payment for sex while in a motel room after an undercover operation. Clancey was found through an escort advertisement.

She admitted soliciting sex for money, according to the police report. Police took her to Mahoning County jail.

People interested in signing up for the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office Homesafe program can do so from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive.

The program is a database used by law-enforcement personnel only and operated by the sheriff’s office to be used in case an elderly person or other at-risk citizens, such as autistic children or people suffering from developmental disabilities, go missing.

Forms will be available to be filled out, and there also will be activities and crafts for children. Refreshments will be available..

A Newton Falls woman is in Mahoning County jail after police found 10 pills, two syringes and three spoons on her after a car in which she was a passenger was pulled over for an improper lane change at Market Street and West Avondale Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The pills were found under the seat where an officer saw 24-year-old Amber Cool drop them, reports said. The needles and spoons were found in her purse.

She is charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug abuse instruments. The driver said he did not know she had drugs on her. He was released with a warning for the lane change.
