A man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder for hitting a 73-year-old woman with a wooden baseball bat has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says John Mason, 48, was sentenced Thursday.
Mason’s attorney says his client took responsibility and is prepared to serve his sentence.
The prosecutor says Mason was convicted in 1987 in Georgia on charges including murder. He was paroled and living with a woman and her daughter in Huber Heights when he struck the woman in the head Aug. 8.
