WARREN
Two Newton Falls men have been indicted on charges that they ran a methamphetamine lab out of a home on Bridge Street in Newton Falls.
Raymond Grimes, 48, of Bridge Street, Newton Falls, is indicted on charges that could send him to prison for 20 years, while a purported accomplice, David Reed, 25, of Newton Drive, Newton Falls, is indicted on a charge carrying a possible five-year prison term.
They were charged after a six-week investigation by the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force that also involved allegations that Grimes and Reed dumped a bag of chemicals and other drug-manufacturing items in a garbage receptacle at a Broad Street, Newton Falls, tavern.
Both men were arrested Sept. 25 after investigators raided Grimes’ home and evacuated people from apartments on Bridge Street for 90 minutes because of the danger of the chemicals.
Grimes was indicted Thursday on charges of illegal manufacture of drugs and aggravated possession of drugs. Reed was indicted on a charge of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.
Both men are due to be arraigned in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court at 11 a.m. next Friday.
