Using small torch to melt ice off a roof not a good idea
YOUNGSTOWN — Someone trying to thaw ice off the roof at a 1932 E. Midlothian Blvd. business about 9:45 a.m. today started a small fire, reports said.
An employee of Seal Tight Asphalt came to the East Midlothian Boulevard station and asked for a fire extinguisher because they started a roof fire. Crews responded and found light smoke. Reports said someone was using a torch to melt ice and it caught the wood supporting the building’s overhang on fire.
